Murmers Of The Mind....

It was one of those occasional flights, which I used to take to be at my head office & back for review meetings. While the flight was coming into land this thought hit me as if I was flying for the first time and looking out?
My luck was good so I got a seat on the emergency exit row, which has better legroom. Actually coming to think of it I was given the middle seat, and as if it was to happen, nobody came to occupy the window seat. So I smugly shifted to the window seat before the flight took off. I was a little tired and felt like taking a nice nap but the book I was reading ‘Tuesdays with Morrie’ was just too interesting to be put down. There was this plumpish man sitting on the aisle seat who was too busy collecting extra freebies dolled out by the flight attendants. He in-fact even made the service staff pack some tamarind sweetmeats to be packed for him to take home along with two three extra water bottles, the in-flight magazine etc.
Well back to my reading. I was really engrossed and had no clue of an hour passed by. That is when the speakers crackled and the attendant announced that we would be landing soon. I decided to bookmark my last page, which I was reading, and spend a few minutes to look down and watch the lay of the land. It was truly beautiful. The earth was rain kissed with green fields, ponds, lakes, rivers, and a few huts stretched across as far as the eye could see.
But guess what, I could not find or see a single human form from that altitude. That is when this thought occurred to me. If god was looking down on earth say from this point, all he would see is the beauty he has created and how small a part humans play in his scheme of things…I would say in-consequential. He would laugh at us as to how we lead false lives thinking we control/would control everything on earth. But the truth is we are so so small. Mother nature envelops us and makes us so miniscule that we tend to forget who we actually are.
But here we are in our big cities, towns, villages, struggling and fighting with each other to leave a name behind. We are enveloped in ourselves and the superior ego of the human race. Some are out to become corporate big wigs, some millionaires, some inventing things which are not supposed be natures way or some are out to destroy parts of this great puzzle called life.
I really felt so small being up there and realizing our tunnel vision. How I wish everyone who take to the skies to just give a fleeting thought of how small we really are and to respect the bigger picture that we owe our existence to!!
